They’re in Port Oransis for their last group meeting. They spent the day at the beach and shopping in town. They plan to leave around 4:00am Thursday and should arrive home around 10:30pm.

Voice message from Larry Tuesday afternoon 2:30.
They’re in Texas. They had a long lunchbreak in Loredo. They are headed to Ft. Ransis for the evening and hope to go to the beach. They will spend the rest of Wednesday there, too.

The missions group arrived home Tuesday evening!  You can view their pictures at http://mexico2007june.snapfish.com/comcast2

Voice message from Larry:

The team slept in an extra hour on Sunday. Church starts at noon and lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. They got to meet people in the church and worship with them. A seminary student in Monterrey gave the sermon. In the afternoon, they got to rest for about an hour.

4:00-6:00 they set up for the fiesta. They set up chairs, tables, tents, and stages. The fiesta started at 6:00pm. Close to 500 people attended, and there were tons of kids. They had games, prizes, face painting, dinner, and a band. The fiesta ended at 10:15pm.They went to the construction sites this morning. The homes are not completed yet, but they’re getting close. A man who lives at one of the homes walks an hour to and from work and works a 12-hour shift. He works as a security guard, and there is no place for him to change his clothes at work. The buses won’t pick him up because they think he’s the police since he wears a security guard uniform. The team raised $175 and got him a bike and lock. (more…)

The youth team has people working at both home construction sites.  The first site laid their foundation yesterday and put up walls today. They’re waiting for wood for the roof and are putting stucco on walls. The second site had to pull out stumps yesterday (mostly by hand, which took about four hours) , so they’re laying their foundation today. The kids in neighborhood around the job site are enjoying the coloring books and bubbles. They get to work on building relationships, not just houses.

Larry and Schaun met with a local pastor about his dreams for a rehab center, so they’re excited about some opportunities with that.

The youth team was at the soccer field, playing soccer with local teenagers and children.

No problems or sickness with the youth team!

Voice message from Larry:

On Wednesday, the youth team started construction on two homes. They are also doing a vacation Bible school and afterschool program. On Thursday they plan to continue construction and work in the neighborhood. They are hoping to pass out invitations to the fiesta they’ll be holding on Sunday. The youth team is also spending time worshiping together :-)

Update from Klint:

He just got in touch with the youth team, and they are doing some construction and working hard.

Yesterday the missions team arrived in Monterrey about noon. They checked into their hotel and took a prayer walk around the village of Croc. This morning they are planning to do morning rounds with a pastor doing drug rehab and outreach. This afternoon they are to assist with some home construction and will be joining the youth team for dinner.

Monday evening Larry left a voice message from the high school group. He said they left Shawnee at 2:15am and arrived in San Marcos, Texas about 4:45pm. They are resting up and taking it easy. They plan to head out around 8:00am on Tuesday, arrive at the border around lunchtime, drive a couple more hours to Monterray, and then a few more minutes into Croc. Larry will try to leave a voice message update each evening.
